Caltrain's latest fare hike thankfully breaks the five year trend of simply raising all tickets by a flat fee. As I pointed out over a year ago, they had increased ticket prices by 50% for single zone tickets since 2002 vs. 12.5% for San Francisco to San Jose riders.

Updating the long term rate increases, this year Caltrain is not increasing the single zone tickets. From 2002, the single zone tickets went from $1.50 to their current price of $2.25, remaining at a 50% increase. While the San Francisco to San Jose ticket went from the 2002 price of $6.00 to the new price of $7.50, a 25% increase.
